The training phase should be easy and fun to experience. If you are not physically strong, start building your limits by going for long walks.

You can also wear day packs while your walks include inclines and descents which would help you on actual trekking trails. When you think you are ready for a small trail, then plan for trekking with an easy route. Slowly, you can head towards medium and then difficult trails.

Get the best trekking equipment

Invest in a good equipment kit, which includes good footwear, hip straps, back straps, etc. that would add comfort in trekking. On a serious note, it is important to have proper footwear. Go for boots that would be with you for the long time period. Selecting footwear with poor quality would lead to blisters, and it can also harm your ankles.

While you trek, keep drinking lots of water at regular intervals which would help in keeping you hydrated. Apart from water, you can also keep some handy and light snack items with you in your bags like energy bars that are helpful too on the trails.

Weather is something that comes with uncertainty. Hence, it is important to check the weather conditions before you leave for trekking. This would help you remain prepared for any kind of weather issues like landslides, rain, snow storms, etc. Knowing the weather conditions becomes more important when you are trekking trail includes river crossing or any such water body in the way. No doubt, it is safe, but when you are not sure about the weather conditions, it can lead to dangerous situations. Remain flexible with your trekking plans and keep the preparations to return back if the situation demands, or even look for proper shelter options if possible.

Pack your bags light

This is also one among the common mistakes that are observed among the beginners. They pack whatever stuff they come across, without thinking if it is necessary or not. They pack anything, which is surely a bad idea. Make a list of important things you would definitely require there and are light in weight. This would help you in accurate packing. Avoid taking unwanted items or heavy weight items with you as this can prove to be a barrier while you trek on your trail.

Go for lightweight food packings that are best for trekking and eliminate every unnecessary item from the list. Also, get required crockery set only along with required amount of water too. Another quick suggestion for packing is to pack your sleeping bag first and place rest of the heavy items on it which would distribute the weight on the back. Make sure you keep important items like water, jacket, etc. handy at the time of packing the bags for easy access.

Ensure your bag has first aid kit, utility knife, flashlight, torches, batteries, lightweight t-shirt, navigational devices, maps, sunblock, mosquito repellant, pest repellant, sunscreens, warm clothes, etc.
